Their choice? To die onstage – or off it.
Beautiful and bonkers – it’s the clown show about totalitarianism you never knew you needed.
Informed and inspired by conversations with international artists living under authoritarian regimes.
Rhum and Clay return after 2019’s smash hit The War of the Worlds and 2018’s The Stage Award-winning Mistero Buffo.

Project History

Following several months of interviews with anonymous international artists living under oppressive regimes, Rhum and Clay was commissioned by New Diorama Theatre to make Project Dictator.
Following a successful run at New Diorama in April 2022, playing 31 performances to regularly sold-out crowds and critical praise, Project Dictator transferred to Pleasance for Edinburgh Fringe 2022, where it enjoyed additional multiple four and five star reviews and played to over 2500 audience members.

We are now actively seeking touring opportunities for Project Dictator in Autumn 2023 and onwards. To request the sharing pack and/or video, please email Producer, Grace Dickson.
