Katie has never been good in a crisis.
She once saw her sister chop off the top of her finger but couldn’t call an ambulance because she had fainted. Then she saw her front door had been kicked in, but waited until her housemates arrived 40 minutes later to find almost everything stolen.
When her mum is diagnosed with cancer, she freezes again… and then, she meets an elderly man, George, in a radiotherapy waiting room and everything changes.
One in two of us will get cancer in our lifetimes. It can happen to anyone. People who run the marathon… well, they’ve only got themselves to blame.

The Long Run is a storytelling comedy about love, life and running for a really long time. It opened at VAULT Festival 2023 where it played to full houses and received critical acclaim, and is now transferring to New Diorama as part of Bec Martin’s debut season as Artistic Director of New Diorama. The Long Run is written by Katie Arnstein, multi-award-winning writer of Sexy Lamp, Sticky Door and Wolverine Woman.
